Can I Use a Fanatec Wheel Base with Other Brands' Pedals?

When setting up a sim racing rig, many enthusiasts wonder if they can mix and match hardware from different brands. If you own a Fanatec wheel base but want to use pedals from another manufacturer, the answer depends on your platform and connection method. While direct compatibility is limited, there are workarounds that allow for greater flexibility—especially on PC.

Can I Use a Fanatec Wheel Base with Other Brands' Pedals

Connecting third-party pedals to a Fanatec wheel base

Fanatec wheel bases do not support direct connections from third-party pedals. Unlike Fanatec’s own pedal sets, such as the CSL Elite Pedals V2 or ClubSport Pedals V3, which are designed to plug directly into a Fanatec wheel base, pedals from other brands lack this compatibility.

However, this doesn’t mean you can’t use third-party pedals at all. If you’re on PC, you can connect any pedal set separately via USB and configure it within your sim racing software. Most modern racing simulators allow multiple USB input devices, meaning you can run a Fanatec wheel base alongside a different brand’s pedals without issues. This setup is common among PC sim racers who prefer specific pedal models for their racing style.

One thing to keep in mind is that calibration and force adjustments will need to be managed through separate software, as Fanatec’s tuning options won’t apply to non-Fanatec pedals.

Using Fanatec pedals with non-fanatec wheel bases

If you already own Fanatec pedals but are considering using them with a non-Fanatec wheel base, the process is just as straightforward. Fanatec pedals can function as a standalone device when connected to a PC via USB.

Some models, like the CSL Pedals, don’t come with an integrated USB connection by default. However, you can upgrade them with the ClubSport USB Adapter, which allows them to be recognized as an independent input device. This means that even if your wheel base is from another manufacturer, you can still enjoy Fanatec’s high-quality pedal performance in your racing setup.

Console limitations

On consoles, things are more restrictive. Since consoles don’t support multiple USB input devices in the same way as PCs, you typically need to use a fully compatible ecosystem (e.g., a Fanatec wheel base with Fanatec pedals). Mixing and matching brands is usually not possible unless the peripherals are officially supported by the console and game.

So, if you're using a PC, you have complete freedom to use pedals from any brand alongside a Fanatec wheel base—just connect them via USB and configure them within your sim software. If you're on console, you’ll likely need to stick with a fully Fanatec setup due to hardware restrictions. Regardless of your platform, mixing and matching sim racing gear is possible with the right adapters and software configurations.
