Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.55 - New Features

The latest Gran Turismo 7 update was made available for download on January 30th, 2025. While some information was leaked in advance, including the introduction of the Hyundai Ioniq 5N, which is anticipated to deliver significant horsepower, the sim racing community eagerly awaited to learn more about the full scope of the release.

Community expectations

The GT7 community has long anticipated several additions, such as the Pikes Peak track—particularly given the presence of several Pikes Peak cars in the game, including a vintage Honda Civic (expected to have significant power), another Formula 1 car, and additional Menu Café books. Based on social media discussions, there was an expectation for around five new cars, along with a desire for additional missions.

What the GT7 update delivered

New cars

The Polyphony update 1.55, included the Ioniq 5N '24. This vehicle marks Hyundai's first high-performance electric offering, featuring dual motors that deliver 641 hp. With the capability to direct power to the rear wheels, it serves as an excellent option for drift missions when paired with the Fanatec ClubSport Handbrake V2. Before you buy this model, check if you won the car during the Nations Cup - it's awarded late as a viewing gift.

The community also gained a new Formula 1 car, the legacy vehicle Gran Turismo F3500-A. Its 3.5L V12 engine operates at 15,000 rpms, so be sure to adjust your sound settings to fully enjoy the experience.

Next, two new Asian models have been introduced: the Toyota C-HR S, an SUV, and the highly anticipated Honda Civic Si Extra (EF) 87. The Civic comes with 393,5 PP and 128 HP, but can be tuned to 643,8 PP with 296 HP. This model is particularly noteworthy for many enthusiasts, not only for its driving experience but also for the nostalgia it evokes. It has established itself as a reliable choice among tuners, especially with engine swaps.

Menu Café book 43

In addition to these cars, the Extra Menu No. Book 43 was added, which requires the collection of the Mazda 787B, Mercedes Sauber C9, and another Group C car available at the Legends car dealership. This book is available as of Collector Level 47. Once you have all three, the Porsche Vision GT will be added to your collection.

Furthermore, two new racing events have been introduced (please note: these are not new tracks), including the FF 450 Challenge at Sardegna and the Sunday Cup at Kyoto Driving Park—these appear to have been selected to accommodate Ioniq 5N drivers. Sardegna has long been a favorite, making it an excellent choice for earning credits while testing the new car.

Furthermore, if you enjoy capturing dynamic in-game images, the addition of Chromatic Drive allows you to showcase your favorite cars in a variety of fresh environments.

Additionally, an enhanced version of Gran Turismo Sophy was introduced, a human-like AI racing agent for Sport mode, aimed at delivering a more realistic gaming experience. Please note that Sophy is exclusively available on PlayStation 5, so PS4 players will not have access to this feature. Along with the AI update, two new Sophy courses were added: Brazil Interlagos and Mount Panorama in Australia.

Settings were not changed as part of the 1.55 update. This means the configuration of the Fanatec GT DD Pro, Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Extreme or your ClubSport DD+ remains the same.
