To install Fanatec software the first time, users needed to access the latest version on the Fanatec website. With the new Fanatec App, users only need to download the App itself from the website to manage updates, streamlining the process. Updates can now be accessed and installed directly from the App itself without additional steps, making it easier and faster than ever to keep your devices running smoothly.
Simple update navigation
In the future, the goal is to reduce the app installation size by only installing and updating the files necessary for the user. For example, large firmware files for products the customer does not own would no longer be included in the initial software download. Instead, these firmware files would be downloaded separately as needed. This approach will also enable firmware updates without requiring a full software update. The same process applies to software updates, ensuring that only relevant files are installed.
On the left side, you can see the connected products. If a device appears grayed out, it means it is not currently connected.
Located in the top right corner of the app, you'll find both the firmware and software update buttons, a feature also highlighted in the app's introductory tutorial. Clicking on the firmware button opens the Firmware Manager, which provides a clear overview of your connected products and prominently displays an "Update" button for each device – from your wheel base to your peripherals. Similarly, the software update button allows you to manage software updates efficiently. If there’s anything new available, a red dot will appear next to the icon, ensuring you never miss an important update.
By clicking on the “Update” button, the app takes over, guiding you through the process with an easy-to-follow wizard. This simple, step-by-step approach ensures you always have the latest firmware and software enhancements for your devices. If you’ve used the previous app, you’ll notice that the interface remains almost identical, maintaining a familiar and user-friendly experience.
