Fanatec ClubSport GT Cockpit Handbrake Compatibility

Fanatec’s new product, the ClubSport GT Cockpit, was designed to offer the best possible experience in the world of sim racing, thanks to its robust structure, easy adjustability, and of course, its comfort. One of the most important features of the product is that, in addition to being compatible with all the brand's products, it also offers compatibility with most third-party products.

This obviously includes handbrakes. If you’re considering adding a handbrake to your GT Cockpit for optimal rally or drifting performance, here are some of the available options.

The ClubSport Handbrake V2 from Fanatec is the perfect fit, designed to provide precise and realistic control in racing simulations. This product, that replaces the V1.5 version, offers improvements such as a refined design and a load cell sensor for greater precision and realism.

Third-party handbrakes

In addition to Fanatec's own products, the ClubSport GT Cockpit also offers the option to install handbrakes from other brands. In both cases, it’s important to note a key condition: installation requires the purchase of the Shifter Mount, which is sold separately from the basic cockpit package. This accessory allows you to securely attach the handbrake – whether alone or with a shifter– to the cockpit.

This accessory can accommodate most handbrakes from other brands, but it is important to always check the specifications of each product to ensure they are compatible with the cockpit’s mounting system.

Installation and configuration

As with the CSL Cockpit or the Rennsport Cockpit V2, installation is straightforward, especially when using Fanatec models, as they are designed to integrate naturally with the cockpit. However, in this case, and due to the cockpit's features, the shifter mounting kit is different from other holders from the brand.

The ClubSport GT Shifter Mounting Kit, the accessory that will support the handbrake, is a bar that attaches to one of the cockpit’s sides – it will be necessary to choose which side you want to position it on since the tube is slightly different. This includes the mounting tube, a plate, an extension for the plate, and clamps. With all of this, assembly is easy, and the handbrake will be securely mounted.

If you use a handbrake in sim racing, it's common to also have or need a shifter. The most common configuration in rally or drift rigs is to mount the handbrake alongside the shifter, which has holes for adjustment at different positions.

If you choose to attach a handbrake from another brand, you should first check if its dimensions match the cockpit and its accessories, but the cockpit is designed to adapt to most products on the market, so chances are that it will be compatible.
