The difference between textured and smooth pedal faces primarily relates to grip, feel, comfort and performance.
In this article we compare the most important differences between the two options.
Choosing between textured and smooth pedal faces often comes down to personal preference and driving style. If you prioritize grip and control, especially in high-performance situations, textured pedals may be the better choice. If comfort and ease of cleaning are more important, smooth pedals could be ideal.
If you're not sure whether you prefer smooth or textured pedals, or if you want to be able to switch between the two options, we recommend our CSL Elite Pedals V2. For example, you might prefer more grip on the brake pedal for applying very high forces, but a slick throttle to assist with smooth acceleration out of corners. The detachable rubber pads on the foot plates give you the choice of high or low friction.
