The Fanatec ecosystem

The Fanatec ecosystem refers to our uniquely designed system which facilitates the compatibility and interchangeability of Fanatec’s various hardware components across multiple platforms, including Windows PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.

This ecosystem allows users to combine different steering wheels, wheel bases, pedals, and additional accessories such as shifters and handbrakes to create a personalized racing setup. It is organized around distinct product lines, including CSL, ClubSport, and Podium, each providing varying levels of performance and pricing, thus ensuring flexibility and a broad range of options for users.

When determining product compatibility within the Fanatec ecosystem, you’ll first need to identify the gaming platform you plan to use.

All Fanatec products are fully compatible with Windows PC.

PlayStation users are required to use a Sony-licensed wheel base, such as our ClubSport DD+ or Gran Turismo® DD Pro Wheel Base (8 Nm). Wheel bases compatible with PlayStation consoles will feature a “PS” icon at the top of the respective product page, as shown here:

Xbox users also require a license to use their setup on their platform, however in this case, the Microsoft license can be found in an Xbox-licensed steering wheel, like our ClubSport Steering Wheel GT3 Endurance for Xbox or the ClubSport Steering Wheel Formula V2.5X. Look for the “Xbox” icon at the top of the product page to confirm compatibility:

Note: Some products may include the icons "PS Ready" or "Xbox Ready", however, these products only become compatible in combination with an additional, platform-licensed product, as outlined above.

A product will never include both the PS icon and the Xbox icon, as these are not combined in a single piece of hardware for licensing reasons.

Furthermore, not all wheel bases include a Sony license and not all steering wheels come with a Microsoft license. Always look for the respective icons or check the Compatibility section of the product page for details to align your selection with your needs.

Ultimately, the Fanatec ecosystem lets you determine whether or not you need a licensed product or not, thereby also leaving you flexible with respect to your budget. PlayStation- and Xbox-compatible products are available at a higher price point, which is one further reason why hardcore sim racers prefer high-performance PCs.
