How to Clean Fanatec Pedals

Pedals are a crucial part of your racing simulation setup, providing precise feedback and enhancing your overall experience. Keeping them clean and well-maintained is essential not just for longevity but also for ensuring optimal performance during every race.

Like any piece of equipment, Fanatec pedals can accumulate dust, dirt, and even sweat over time, which can negatively affect their responsiveness and durability. Regular cleaning helps prevent buildup that could hinder performance while also maintaining the overall aesthetic of your setup. In addition, keeping your pedals clean ensures that the sensors and moving parts operate smoothly, extending the life of your equipment.

Step-by-Step cleaning guide

1. Turn off and disconnect your pedals

Before starting the cleaning process, always make sure to disconnect the pedals from your racing setup to avoid accidental malfunctions or damage to the electronics during cleaning.

2. Remove dust and debris

Over time, debris can accumulate in hard-to-reach areas, especially around the springs and sensors.

  • Compressed air: Blow away dust from tight spaces like the pedal mechanism, base, and connectors.
  • Soft brush: If you don't have compressed air, a soft brush (like a paintbrush) can help you gently loosen and remove dirt. Be careful not to damage any delicate parts.

3. Clean the pedal plates and footrests

Dampen a microfiber cloth with warm water and a small amount of mild soap or dishwashing liquid, and then gently wipe the pedal plates and footrests. Avoid excess moisture, especially near the pedal mechanisms, to protect electrical parts.

For stubborn dirt or grease, use a cloth with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol. Test on a small area first to ensure no damage.

4. Inspect for wear and tear

While cleaning, take a moment to inspect your pedals for any signs of wear. Look for frayed cables, worn-out rubber components, or any areas that may need replacement. Catching these issues early can save you time and money in the long run.

5. Dry the pedals

After cleaning, it’s crucial to dry your pedals completely before reconnecting them. Use a dry microfiber cloth to ensure that no water remains near the electronic components, and allow the pedals to air-dry for a few minutes.

6. Lubrication (optional)

When maintaining your sim racing pedals, it's important to choose the right lubricants for each component.

  • For the clutch and throttle of the ClubSport Pedals V3 and V3 Inverted, it's best to use silicone-based oil, as applying grease can be difficult and messy. For the V3 brake pedal, silicone grease is the ideal choice to ensure smooth operation and durability.
  • For all other Fanatec pedals, either silicone oil or grease will work effectively, providing the necessary lubrication without damaging the components.

Apply a thin, even layer and move the part gently to ensure the lubricant is evenly distributed.
